Sloper School

If you follow Jenny Rushmore at Cashmerette Patterns, you will already have heard about Curvy Sloper School! And if you're a Cashmerette Club member, you will have received the Wyman Sloper Pattern (in sizes 0 to 32, with bust cup sizes C to H) with your February 2024 membership.

All club members were invited to sign up for Sloper School, which started a couple of weeks ago, for free, and registration was also open (at a fee) to non-club members.

The Wyman Sloper course pattern is a dress sloper pattern, and it has a straight skirt and long sleeves. There are two sleeve options, one being a two-piece sleeve, which allows for additional bicep fitting options. Seam allowances on the Wyman pattern are a generous one inch, to facilitate minor fitting adjustments right from your very first sample.

Students selected their pattern size based on the results of the Cashmerette Size Calculator. This is a genius little tool, available on the website to help you whenever you're wanting to purchase any Cashmerette pattern. You will input a few body measurements (as well as your usual bra size), and the calculator will help you pick the best starting size for your body.

The next steps in the course were to make initial pattern adjustments, and then to sew a first sloper. So far Jenny has taken us through her assessment of the length adjustments required on the initial slopers of the three real-life models participating in the course.

Although I have had a well-fitting sloper of my own for a quite few years now (courtesy of my Sure-Fit Designs Dress Kit), I'm really enjoying the Cashmerette Sloper School process. There's always something new to learn, isn't there?

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the course!

Until next time,

Caroline
